Call for Papers: Advancing Epistemic Plurality in Higher Education Internationalization Across Africa

A new Special Issue invites scholars to contribute to critical conversations on internationalization of higher education in and with Africa, with a focus on advancing epistemic plurality.

Over the past decade, increasing attention has been drawn to the dominance of Western perspectives in higher education internationalization. At the same time, Africa is experiencing significant growth in internationalization activities—ranging from student mobility and digitalization to transnational partnerships and intra-African collaboration. Despite this progress, Africa contributes only a small share to global knowledge production, highlighting an urgent need to amplify diverse voices and perspectives.

This Special Issue aims to bridge this gap by exploring how internationalization is conceptualized, practiced, and experienced across African higher education systems and in collaboration with global partners. It also seeks to examine how these processes impact equity, inclusion, and knowledge production.
