Advancing University Internationalisation in Kenya: ANIE Engages in PROSPER Workshop at University of Eldoret
The African Network for Internationalisation of Education continues to advance its commitment to strengthening higher education internationalisation across Africa through active participation in the PROSPER (Promoting Opportunities and Strengthening Partnerships for Enhanced Internationalisation between Europe and Kenya) project.
As part of this initiative, ANIE took part in a dynamic workshop hosted at University of Eldoret, bringing together institutional leaders, practitioners, and project partners to engage in critical discussions on university internationalisation. The workshop provided a platform to explore key questions shaping the future of higher education, including how institutions can develop effective internationalisation strategies, identify appropriate indicators to measure impact, and build balanced, mutually beneficial global partnerships. Participants also examined the role of international rankings in enhancing institutional visibility and competitiveness.
The sessions were enriched by contributions from expert partners within the PROSPER consortium, offering both theoretical perspectives and practical insights. The highly interactive nature of the workshop encouraged meaningful dialogue, peer learning, and the sharing of experiences across institutions, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable change.
ANIE extends its sincere appreciation to all participants for their strong engagement and valuable contributions throughout the workshop.
The PROSPER project activities will continue with a second workshop scheduled at Open University of Kenya in Konza on 30th–31st March. This upcoming session will focus on digital collaboration, further strengthening institutional capacity to navigate the evolving landscape of international higher education.
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, the PROSPER project is coordinated by University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne. The initiative brings together European and Kenyan partners in a collaborative effort to enhance the global standing of Kenyan universities through capacity building, strategic development, and strengthened academic partnerships.
