The 15th ANIE conference will be held under the overarching theme “Internationalization in challenging times: Sustaining Impact, Driving Change towards new futures for Africa. The conference comes at a time of profound geopolitical transformations posing unprecedented and far-reaching impacts on the future of higher education and research cooperation between Africa and other regions of the world. It is thus a moment of change and transformations in various facets and with implications on internationalization. The conference will explore the impacts of these dynamics on internationalization of higher education in Africa It will consider strategies to build resilience, strengthen partnerships and building stronger intra-Africa education engagements. The conference will explore how the gains and benefits of internationalization can be sustained for meaningful impact on African education system, institutions and society. The discussions will take glimpses of the new global dynamics and emerging developments and the realities in Africa to contextualize the discussions. The growing imbalances and attendant risks of internationalization to African universities and societies will also gain centrality in the discourse. In this context, the conference will discuss ways of making internationalization more meaningful and beneficial to African institutions and societies and how the perennial imbalances can be addressed.

The Africa Network for Internationalization of Education (ANIE) is a Pan-African network and think-tank committed to the advancement of high-quality research, capacity building, information sharing and exchange, transnational networking and cooperation, and policy advocacy on internationalization of education.

We welcome contributions that address the conference theme and sub-themes. All submissions should demonstrate clear relevance to African contexts and internationalization of higher education.
