The African Network for Internationalisation of Education (ANIE) is a pan African network focused on undertaking research, capacity building, policy dialogues and information exchange on the international dimension of education in Africa. ANIE is part of the consortium implementing the Future Fit Young Africa (FFYA) where the Human Science Research Council (HSRC), South Africa is the lead implementor. Within this program ANIE is recruiting a researcher ( preferably a Post-Doctoral Fellow or one with a strong research-oriented masters qualification to support the research withing the FFYA project.
The researcher will provide advanced research, analysis, and coordination support within the FFYA project and contribute to high-quality knowledge products, and participate in communities of practice (CoP), workshops, and dissemination.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of two qualitative case studies (tool development, field protocols, document reviews).
- Support data collection, data management and qualitative analysis and developing analytical reports where needed..
- Participate in project workshops, seminars, dissemination meetings and coordination meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Support ethical compliance, safeguarding processes, and research governance documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD awarded or strong Masters Qualification (Education, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Policy, Development Studies, or related social sciences).
- Demonstrated qualitative research expertise, with peer-reviewed publications and/or high-quality research outputs.
- Proficiency with qualitative analysis software (Atlas.ti, NVivo or equivalent).
Essential Competencies
- Advanced skills in interviewing, qualitative coding, and thematic/interpretive analysis.
- Excellent academic writing and editorial discipline; ability to meet tranche-linked deadlines.
- Strong organisation and coordination across multi-institutional teams.
- Sensitivity and experience working with youth and diverse communities; impeccable ethics and data protection practice.
- Professional fluency in English (additional African languages are an advantage).
Desirable (Added Advantage)
- Prior involvement in youth transitions, education-to-work pathways, skills systems, or labour market studies.
- Experience with participatory or digital methods (e.g., digital storytelling).
- Familiarity with multi-country research management and stakeholder engagement.
Reporting & Supervision
The Post-Doctoral Fellow will report to ANIE’s Country Coordinator/Principal Investigator for the project (and work closely with the Executive Director’s office), participating in scheduled research meetings and submission cycles.
Contract & Remuneration
- Time commitment: 60% appointment.
- Tenure: From appointment December 1st 2025 to 31 December 2027 (subject to performance and project needs).
- Remuneration: A competitive renumeration commensurate with qualifications and experience and time spent on the project in this call).
