Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Project

In 2013, ANIE executed a project awarded by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The project was within OECDs Innovation, Higher Education and Research for Development (IHERD) program.

ANIE carried out a study on The Impact of Internationalization on the Governance of Higher Education Research and Innovation in Ghana, Kenya and Uganda which led to a synthesis and comparative report on the three countries. The outcomes of the study were presented at the OECD conference in Marseille, France and in Addis Ababa Ethiopia and have been published on OECD website and posted on ANIEs AFIRE platform.

The study analysis concluded that transnational higher education partnership plays a key role at institutional and governmental level across the region. The study showed that there are existing programs and a growing body of policy instruments focusing on strengthening and expanding research networks and other forms of boundary-spanning collaborations among African universities as well as between African institutions and their counterparts in Industrialised countries.
